My name is John Ford, and I am the founder of J.F. Services, and I would like to tell you a little about myself. On leaving school at 15 I started my working life as an apprentice for Bamford Farm Machinery of Uttoxeter. I completed my apprenticeship and worked in construction and agriculture for many years.
One of my employers was F.B. Atkins of Derby for a number of years, where I was a heavy goods vehicle driver, working in the traffic office and as garage foreman at a later date. I decided in the 1980's that I would like to be an owner driver and bought myself a low-loader and contracted to City Plant of Derby moving heavy plant to and from construction sites all over the Midlands
,
In the early 90's I applied for a position at JCB at Rugeley in the Marketing Department where I demonstrated machines and was lucky enough to be invited to join the famous "Dancing Diggers" team where we demonstrated our many talents entertaining the public and performing shows over the country.
(Thats me, second from left)
After leaving JCB in 1993 I decided to become a peripatetic training instructor working for various training providers round the country until I decided to form my own accredited company. In 1998 J.F. Services Training Centre was born at Heatley Green, Abbots Bromley, Nr. Uttoxeter and became an accredited NVQ centre in 2002.
My second claim to fame was appearing on TV in 'You Bet' with a colleague completing a jig-saw puzzle of Matthew Kelly in 3 minutes.
Yes we did do it and had the T-shirt to prove it.
